Bodmin is a town in Cornwall,
Bodmin Moor lies to the southwest of the town. During the medieval
period it was the largest town in Cornwall. By 1086 Bodmin was the
most important religious centre in the county. In 1836 Bodmin became
the official County Town until the late 19th century.
Shire Hall
Was the County Assizes until 1988, visitors can take part as a member
of the jury on a reinactment of a trial, with a tour of holding
cells.
Bodmin Museum
Tells the story of Bodmin through the ages, collections and artifacts.
The Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry Museum
Events from the capture of Gibraltar in 1704 to World War II, based
on the history of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. Displays
of military weapons, medals, coins, uniforms, insignia and pictures.

Bodmin Jail
Built in 1779, once the County prison, the last hanging took place
there in 1909. Now a museum open to the public. Facilities include
a restaurant, bar and gift shop.

Take a trip on the only full size operated steam locomotive line
in Cornwall.
The Bodmin line opened from what is now Bodmin Parkway to Bodmin
on 27 may 1887 and a further line from Bodmin to Boscarne Junction
opened in 1888.
Beacon Local Nature Reserve
87 acres of meadows and woodland, this conservation area has at
its highest point a monument to Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert (soldier)
built in 1857

Owned by the Forestry Commission, mixed woodland, popular for walkers,
dog walkers, cyclists, and horse riders. Choice of waymarked trails
and viewpoints and an intriguing history.
St Petrocs Church
The largest parish church in Cornwall, built in the 15th century,
the Norman font late 12th century has a square bowl and is richly-sculptured,
the Renaissance tomb of John Vivian, died in 1533 is on the north
side of the Sanctuary. There are several slate monuments. adjacent
are the ruins of St Thomas Chapel (built 1377).
Camel Trail
Path for walker's and cyclist's which runs from just outside Bodmin,
it runs alongside the River Camel from Poley's Bridge to the Padstow
Estuary, it is level and can be used by wheelchair and buggy users.
